With more than 300,000 individuals residing in the United States, the Amish are one of the most remarkable communities in the country. Living as they did in the 17th century, they have no electricity or running water and travel by horse-drawn carriage.

This documentary is an immersive introduction to this unique community, giving voice to three generations of Amish people who make a rare decision to tell their stories — after months of reflection and debate with their pastors. Beyond exploring the division between an archaic way of life and the modern world, the program raises questions about the notion of individual freedom, belonging to a minority, economic and social norms and the place of women.
